JMG Demonstrates Corporate Citizenship with Food Relief for 400 Households in Majidun

LAGOS, Nigeria 17 October 2026

A business’s contribution to society goes beyond the products and services it offers; it is also reflected in the difference it makes in the lives of people and communities. This commitment came to life on 17 October 2026, when JMG Limited partnered with the Lagos Food Bank Initiative to provide food assistance to over 400 women in Majidun, Ikorodu, Lagos State, in commemoration of World Food Day.

For JMG, a provider of electromechanical solutions across Nigeria, the initiative was an opportunity to extend its contribution beyond its core business. By supporting families with essential food supplies, the company reinforced its belief that responsible business also involves recognising community needs and taking practical steps to address them.

The day began at the Lagos Food Bank Initiative’s headquarters, where members of JMG’s leadership team and staff joined volunteers to package food items for distribution. The team was welcomed by the organisation’s Executive Director, Dr Michael Sunbola, alongside Samita Keshinro, Muame Agbosi and other staff members and volunteers, who also conducted a tour of the facility.

The team subsequently travelled to Majidun, where the outreach commenced with the Lagos Food Bank Initiative pledge, reaffirming the partners’ shared commitment to alleviating hunger and supporting vulnerable households.

Speaking at the event, JMG’s Chief Operating Officer, Christian G. Kozma, highlighted the importance of supporting women as part of the company’s broader commitment to social responsibility.

“Today, we are supporting communities in Ikorodu as part of the World Food Day celebration, with the goal of reaching more than 400 women. Women are central to every society, from birth through every stage of life, and at JMG, we recognise their importance. Women occupy critical and sensitive positions within our organisation, and this outreach is another way of demonstrating our support for women and their advancement.”

JMG’s Chief Human Resources Officer, Gloria Ibeziako, emphasised that addressing community needs requires shared responsibility and collective action.

“At JMG, we believe in empowerment, care and shared responsibility. It is a source of pride to contribute to putting food on the tables of families who need support. Hunger is real, and every individual and organisation can play a role in reducing it. Together, we can create opportunities and bring relief to families in need.”

The company’s Head of Marketing, Oluwatomi Faniran, also highlighted the importance of leveraging partnerships to deliver real social impact.

“Behind every successful initiative is a shared purpose. Our partnership with the Lagos Food Bank Initiative demonstrates what is possible when organisations come together to address real community needs. Beyond the food distributed today, we are proud to be part of an initiative that delivers relief and strengthens the connection between businesses and the communities they serve.”

Dr Sunbola commended JMG for supporting the initiative and helping deliver food assistance directly to families in the community.

“Hundreds of families are receiving food boxes today that can support a family of five. At a time when many struggling families do not know where their next meal will come from, this gesture by JMG brings hope, relief and joy. We appreciate JMG for making a meaningful difference in the lives of vulnerable women and families.”

For residents of Majidun, the intervention offered practical support towards meeting everyday household needs. Morenike Adigun, a resident of the community, expressed appreciation to both organisations for the outreach.

“I am grateful to JMG and the Lagos Food Bank Initiative for remembering women in our community. The food support will go a long way in helping us provide for our families and ease some of the pressure of putting meals on the table. We sincerely appreciate this gesture and hope more initiatives like this will reach families who need them.”

The Baale of Majidun Community, Chief Alex Olusegun Omoyele, also expressed appreciation to JMG and the Lagos Food Bank Initiative for extending support to residents and helping ease the pressure on local households.

The partnership underscores the role businesses can play in complementing community-based efforts to address social needs. While sustainable development requires long-term collaboration and broader interventions, initiatives such as this provide immediate assistance to families while encouraging more organisations to contribute to the wellbeing of the communities they serve.

For JMG, the outreach represents a practical expression of corporate citizenship, recognising that the value a business creates is not limited to its commercial activities but also includes the positive contribution it makes to people’s lives and the wider society.
